Rugged Mountain Outfitters LLC, Mitchell Vazquez

Rugged Mountain Outfitters delivers premier backcountry hunting adventures across some of Colorado’s most rugged and game-rich terrain. Operating under USFS and BLM Special Use Permits in Game Management Units 53, 84, and throughout the BLM Uncompahgre Field Office, we provide hunters with exclusive access to vast stretches of remote wilderness where trophy-class elk, mule deer, and bear thrive.

What truly sets Rugged Mountain Outfitters apart is our professional pack animal operation. While many outfitters are confined to road-accessible areas, our seasoned string of horses and mules allows us to travel deep into untouched high-country basins, dark timber, and alpine ridgelines—areas few hunters ever reach. This access gives our clients a distinct advantage and creates a more authentic, immersive backcountry experience.

Our guided hunts are carefully structured to combine strategy, safety, and personalized attention. Whether pursuing a hard-charging bull elk during the rut, glassing for mature mule deer, or targeting Colorado black bear, each hunt is led by knowledgeable, experienced guides who understand animal behavior, terrain, and the importance of ethical hunting practices.

Rugged Mountain Outfitters is built on integrity, preparation, and a commitment to delivering high-success opportunities without sacrificing the adventure that defines true Western hunting. Comfortable backcountry camps, dependable stock, and thoughtful logistics ensure that clients can focus on the hunt while enjoying the camaraderie and challenge of the wilderness.

At Rugged Mountain Outfitters, this is more than a hunt—it’s a journey into Colorado’s wild high country, where access, experience, and determination combine to create memories that last a lifetime.
