About

Del’s Triangle 3 Ranch is a world-renowned, family-owned outfitting business based in Clark, Colorado, approximately 18 miles north of Steamboat Springs. The ranch manages approximately 3,500 private acres and holds a massive U.S. Forest Service permit for nearly 500,000 acres of the Routt National Forest and the Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area. Specializing in traditional “fair chase” adventures, the outfitter provides a bridge to the old West through high-altitude Elk and Mule Deer hunting, wilderness pack trips, and winter recreation.

The hunting program is a cornerstone of the ranch’s identity, operating in Game Management Units 5, 14, 161, and 214. Perk and his team offer two primary hunting experiences: full-service guided camps and self-sufficient drop camps. Guided hunts are all-inclusive five-day expeditions where one guide is assigned to every two hunters, utilizing a string of ranch-raised horses to access remote base camps at elevations between 7,000 and 10,000 feet. These camps feature classic canvas wall tents, wood-burning stoves, and hearty meals, providing a rugged yet comfortable environment that fosters the camaraderie of the hunting tradition.

Beyond the fall seasons, the ranch is a premier destination for year-round horseback adventures. In the summer, they offer one-hour, two-hour, and half-day trail rides through wildflower meadows and timbered ridges, as well as multi-day pack trips for fishing and photography. During the winter, the ranch provides unique 1.5-hour snowy trail rides and family-friendly buggy tours, allowing guests to experience the “Ghosts of the Forest” landscape from a different perspective. Whether pushing hunters to find a trophy bull or leading a family on their first winter ride, the Heid family maintains a commitment to land stewardship and hospitality that has kept repeat customers returning for over 60 years.
