Colorado’s wild landscapes, abundant wildlife, and rich outdoor traditions are not guaranteed, they are protected through ongoing stewardship, advocacy, and the dedication of those who cherish the outdoors. The Colorado Outfitters Association has a long history of standing up for sportsmen, outfitters, guides, and the outdoor community, and the Sportsman’s Defense Fund plays a critical role in this mission.
Your donation helps ensure that the opportunity to hunt, fish, ride, and explore Colorado’s backcountry remains strong for generations to come. It supports the values that define COA: conservation, integrity, responsible access, and a deep respect for the land and wildlife that make Colorado one of the greatest outdoor destinations in the world.
The Sportsman’s Defense Fund was created to safeguard the rights, traditions, and outdoor opportunities that sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts depend on. COA represents sportsmen at Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Commission meetings, wilderness and wildlife management discussions, and in collaboration with state and federal agencies, SCI, RMEF, and other conservation organizations. Through this fund, we continue to advocate for ethical, sustainable outdoor recreation and fair hunting and fishing opportunities across the state.
Over the years, COA has presented conservation strategies, wildlife management recommendations, and financial and policy suggestions to CPW leadership, all with the goal of improving habitat health, herd quality, public access, and the experience of every sportsman. We also work tirelessly to counter efforts aimed at restricting hunting opportunities or reducing non-resident license allocations, which remain vital to CPW’s funding and wildlife management success.
But we cannot do this alone. Travel costs, legal representation, professional advocacy, and conservation involvement require significant resources, and your support makes this possible.
